February NTCH Newsletter

Our February Newsletter is here! Click here to view it.

Please note there is a field trip in the letter that takes place on 2/29.

Our 2/21 meeting topic is also included, as always. Donna Person shared the referenced article with us during a past meeting. It is a bit lengthy but worth the read.

Finally, in this month’s Thoughts and Perspectives Ron shares about upcoming changes to NTCH. We’re excited for everyone to be a part of them, especially since you get to help us decide on what they are!!!

Please make the time to thank Ron for his service over the last four (calendar) years as Chairman.

Baby Sign Language Class Being Offered!

Class description:

Sign With Love: Baby Sign Language is a course designed for parents, caregivers and family members with infants and toddlers. Although parents can start using signs at any time with their baby, they can expect their child to be most receptive after 6 months of age. These classes are most appropriate for children who are between 6 months and 3 years of age. Signs taught are developmentally appropriate for infants and toddlers and are based on American Sign Language (ASL).

The Baby Sign Language course is a series of 6-weekly interactive classes (45 minutes each). In each lesson, you will learn approximately 15-20 signs on a given theme (90-120 signs total in the course). Themes include: First Signs, Mealtime Signs, Bedtime Signs, Animal Signs, Playtime Signs and Dressing Signs. You will be shown how to introduce and use these signs with your child on a daily basis and the common progression of sign reproduction in children. During each class, activities are introduced to reinforce the signs and you will learn to sign a song and rhyme related to the theme of the lesson. Also, during each lesson, a recommended children’s book will be read and signed to the class. (Signing while reading books to your child is a great way to teach and reinforce the signs learned in class!).

Fee: $90.00 for one adult and child

$25.00 for each additional adult or child

See the web site for more information, including all of the benefits of teaching your baby to sign! Go to signwithlove.com

The time frame for the class is 6 weeks, in March/ April. (Exact dates TBD). The length of the class is 45 minutes. The exact time is also TBD; but I am thinking to begin at 11 AM.

I am interested in hosting this class, but need 5 more Moms who are interested. Location would be at my home, 49 Birch Mountain Road in Bolton

Please email me ASAP to let me know if you’re interested in signing up.

Thanks,

I hope you are looking forward to the Christmas season just as we are. Yes, that’s right! Christmas!!!

Our NTCH December meeting will be a bit different from the last few years. We will still carol and have a time of fellowship, but we have simplified things a bit and hope more folks will be able to make it out.

We will meeting at Manchester Manor, in Manchester at 385 West Center Street at 6pm on Monday, December 12. We’ll join in the Recreation Room at 6 then move to the wings for caroling. After caroling, we have the rec room reserved until 8pm for fellowship. If you like, please bring a refreshment to share.
